Over 110 million websites are made with the popular website builder Wix. We’re not strangers to it – quite a few of our friends and clients use it with great results (looking at you, Salty Cowboy & LACALITA!). However, when Julie Granger approached us because she was fed up with her website speed and looks, we took that chance to move her from Wix to WordPress.
About Julie Granger
Julie Granger is a franco-american fitness entrepreneur (founder of TheStudio+, a “netflix for barre”), former professional ballerina and creator of 8 different workout concepts. Her work has been featured in ELLE, Vogue, and more French & International magazines that we can remember.
On her personal website, she keeps a blog where she shares the “behind the scenes” of her globe-trotting life. Plus, it also serves as a portfolio for her *side* modelling work… don’t we all wish we could be models on the side?
The Problem
The key issue with her old website is that… well, it was old. She built it herself in 2018 and edited bits and pieces over the years. Our technical definition is “Frankenstein website”.
Mobile formatting was a disaster, some pages were missing the navigation bar, the fonts were inconsistent across pages, and the loading speed was horribly slow.
It was time for a re-do!
Our Process
We always start working on every client with the same first step: a website audit. We follow the same checklist every time, and we record all of our findings in Notion + a Loom video that we share with the client.
Then, we downloaded all the content from Wix. Images, videos, blog posts – anything that we’d have to recycle.
Once that was done, we started building the WordPress website from scratch on a temporary domain. With the help of Elementor Pro and Julie’s content, this was definitely the most creative part.
We chose a simple template from the Elementor Site Kit library that would allow us to showcase the stunning imagery while also having different pages to showcase Julie’s multiple talents.
In total, we spent 10 hours: that’s 2 VIP Sessions. The first half was setup work on our own, and the second half with Julie via screen sharing to finalize the design, choose the photos, and put the final touches.
The Final Result
The resulting website is now perfectly suited to Julie’s needs. There are different pages for her modeling work, fitness programs and behind-the-scenes blog. We also decided to integrate some of her YouTube videos to make the website more interactive and interesting for people.
